As of 6/1/2020 IOI is STILL ON and ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS! IOI 2020 will be a day camp in Boise.
Openings for oboe, bassoon, bass and violin
As we face this uncertain time together, it is with great pleasure that we announce the Idaho Orchestra Institute will happen this summer! Making music with you is one of the highlights of the season for our entire faculty. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to do just that this summer.Out of an abundance of caution for your safety and that of the faculty, we will not be holding IOI at Sawtooth Methodist Camp this year. Rather, IOI will be a day camp here in Boise at Barber Park, July 5 – 9. This year we will focus on Haydn’s Symphony No. 42. All rehearsals will be held outside. All other events will be a combination of online and in-person activities. Your safety is our number one priority, so we are limiting the number of participants to 33. This year’s instrumentation will be:2 oboes – 2 bassoons – 2 horns12 violins – 6 violas – 6 celli – 3 bassesCurrently all viola and French Horn slots are filled; however, there are still openings in all other instruments. Strict social distancing and hygiene guidelines will be enforced at all activities. A list of these guidelines will be sent to you, but include wearing masks when feasible, using hand sanitizer and wipes, using individual stands, pencils and music, and staggered releases from various activities. Each participant will be asked to fill out a daily health questionnaire to screen for COVID 19 symptoms, as well as potential temperature checks. More to come on protocols we will be observing during our time together. Our expectation of each of you is that leading up to the camp you will do your part to ensure that we are all safe. That means wearing masks when going into stores or other indoor areas, maintaining social distancing at all times, and following CDC guidelines for healthy living during this period.https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html) It is essential that you take this responsibility seriously for the safety and well-being of fellow students and faculty. In association with Serenata OrchestraJuly 5 – July 9, 2020Barber Park, Boise, IdahoTuition,$400:Jen and Robert planning IOI 2018Robert Franz, conductor and camp co-director
